Day 1: Monday, October 14 / Departure Day
Today we board our departure flight, ready to begin a journey filled with new and exciting experiences.
Day 2: Tuesday, October 15 / Rome
After meeting our guide at the airport, we will have an orientation tour of Rome before enjoying a Welcome Dinner and Show. (D)
Day 3: Wednesday, October 16 / Rome
Today we’ll enjoy a full day, guided tour of Rome, the “Eternal City”. Our day includes sites from ancient Rome including Circus Maximus, the Roman Form and the Colosseum – Rome’s greatest Amphitheatre and the site of deadly gladiator combats. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Thursday, October 17 / Rome
After breakfast, we’ll visit the Vatican Museum including the Sistine Chapel, where the ceiling by Michelangelo is the highlight, and then St. Peter’s Basilica, Catholicism’s most sacred shrine. The rest of afternoon is free before we gather for dinner at the hotel. (B,D)
Day 5: Friday, October 18 / Rome - Ercolano - Naples
Today we say good-bye to Rome and head south to Naples. Our first stop is at Ercolano, a town that lies at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, built on the site of the original city of Herculaneum which was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. After, we’ll take a bus to the top of Vesuvius with the bonus of stunning views. (B,D)
Day 6: Saturday, October 19 / Naples - Orvieto Florence
Heading north to Florence, we’ll stop in Orvieto for a tour of this walled town perched high on a hill. We’ll then continue on to Florence for dinner and a good night’s sleep. (B,D)
Day 7: Sunday, October 20 / Florence
This morning we’ll have a bit of free time before visiting Uffizi Gallery, a prominent art museum and one of the most popular attractions in the world. After lunch, we are treated to a tasting of world renowned wines at Castello Vicchiomaggio. (B,L,D)
Day 8: Monday, October 21 / Florence
Our morning will be filled with a tour of Florence where we’ll see sights like Piazza della Signoria, the Palazzo Veccho, Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral of Santa Maria Novelle. Our afternoon is free for you to explore this culture filled city on your own. Later we’ll gather for a special dinner with musical entertainment. (B,D)
Day 9: Tuesday, October 22/ Florence - Siena - San Gimignano - Pistoia
Leaving Florence, we’ll stop first in Siena, a city distinguished by its medieval brick buildings. At its heart is the huge Piazza Del Campo where we’ll see the Palazzo Pubblico and the Tower Mangia. The famous Gothic Cathedral is our last stop before heading to San Gimignano for lunch and a visit at Il Vecchio Maneggio – a farm that produces olive oil, wine, honey and saffron. We’ll finish the afternoon with a tour of San Gimignano before continuing to Pistoia for the night. (B,L,D)
Day 10: Wednesday, October 23 / Pistoia - Pisa - Pistoia
The morning will be filled with a wonderful tour of Pisa including a stop at the Gelato Parlor.
Heading back towards Pistoia, we’ll stop in Agliana for a tour and tasting at Roberto Catinari Chocolate Factory. Our unique dinner experience is a cooking class where we’ll make our own Italian meal and enjoy it together over a glass of wine. (B,D)
Day 11: Thursday, October 24 / Pistoia - Bologna – Venice
Today we’re off to Venice – the City of Bridges.
But first we’ll stop in Bologna for a tour of this lively, historic city famous for its towers, churches and lengthy porticoes. We end our day with dinner at our hotel in Venice. (B,D)
Day 12: Friday, October 25 / Venice
A morning tour of this unique city includes a visit to St. Mark’s Square, to see the 11th century Basilica with a radiant gold altar-piece. Then we step into the Doges Palace, once home to Venice’s rulers and a triumph of Gothic architecture. We also see The Bridge of Sighs, reputedly taking its name from the sounds of prisoners being led to trial. The afternoon is free for us to explore to our heart’s content. (B,L,D)
Day 13: Saturday, October 26 / Venice - Murano - Burano - Venice
Today we visit 2 islands in the Venetian Lagoon – Murano and Burano. Glass blowing demonstrations, browsing for lace, painted houses and a beautiful boat ride await us. We’ll have a leisurely afternoon before returning to the hotel for dinner. (B,D)
Day 14: Sunday, October 27 / Venice - Murano - Burano - Venice
Our last full day in Italy is entirely our own to spend as we wish. Do some more sightseeing, pick up some souvenirs and do a little shopping, or grab a coffee at a sidewalk café and soak up your surroundings. Tonight we’ll gather for our farewell dinner and celebrate our wonderful adventures. (B,D)
Day 15: Monday, October 28 / Return Home
Today we travel home with memories of new friends and places we have explored on our wonderful Italian Experience.
